Sporcle Tournaments were created with one big idea: to make trivia more fun, social, and dynamic.
They’re meant to offer a new way to play — whether you’re a casual quizzer who wants a daily challenge or a competitive brainiac who thrives on streaks and scores. At their best, tournaments spark community, strategy, and surprise. They’re here to enhance the Sporcle experience, not to fracture it.
What Tournaments Are For
Fun. Trivia is entertainment. Tournaments are meant to be a new layer of joy — not stress. Discovery. They showcase quizzes you might not have seen otherwise. Connection. They let creators and players come together in new ways. Friendly Competition. Healthy rivalry can be thrilling. Obsession over perfection? Less so.
We take clear cases of cheating seriously — especially when bots or scripts are involved. But we also know that not every fast score is a fraud. People play in different ways, on different devices, in different bodies.
If someone’s using accessibility tools, playing from memory, or just happens to be really quick — that’s valid.
We’ll continue to monitor for bots and true rule-breakers, but let’s not let accusations take the air out of the room.
On Quiz Selection and “Stacking”
If you’re running a tournament, including your own quizzes is okay — especially if it fits your theme. The community may have opinions (they always will), but one or two self-authored quizzes in a thoughtful lineup is totally fair game.
Let’s Remember What This Is
You’re not going to win a million dollars.
No one’s life is at stake.
You earn win a trophy or a badge, a leaderboard spot, or just a good laugh.
And that’s the point.
Trivia should be fun. Let’s keep it that way — together.
