Who or What are Rivals in Sporcle Tournaments?

Rivals let you personalize the competition by tracking your progress against up to 10 other players in each tournament. Whether you’re trying to beat a friend, outpace a top scorer, or just keep an eye on someone with a great username, Rivals turn the leaderboard into your own private battleground.

No direct interaction needed—just choose, compare, and climb.

How Do Rivals Work?

🎯 Pick up to 10 rivals per tournament

You can add, remove, or swap rivals anytime while the tournament is active.

📈 Track them across leaderboards

Your selected rivals are highlighted in both the overall and daily leaderboards, with a distinct icon and background tint for easy tracking.

🔄 Stay flexible

You can browse the participant list, search for specific players, or choose from suggested rivals (coming soon).

Where to Choose Rivals

When you join a tournament:

You’ll see an option: “Pick your rivals"

You can browse or search the player list and select up to 10.

After joining:

If you’ve selected fewer than 10, you’ll see a message on the tournament dashboard:

“Choose your rivals to track them during the tournament.”

Click the [Pick Rivals] button to manage your list.

From the leaderboard:

Click on the three dots (meatball menu) next to player’s name to add or remove them:.

Notifications & Settings

You can manage rival-related notifications in your profile settings:

• Notify me when I’m picked as a rival

• Notify me about rival activity

(Players can’t opt out of being picked as a rival in the current version.)
