Understanding Quiz Release Terminology on Sporcle

When you’re ready to make your quiz available to others—whether publicly or privately—you will Contribute the quiz.

Contributed Quizzes

Once a quiz is contributed, it enters the Contributed state. These quizzes:

• Can be discovered via site search or in the Quiz Lab
• Are visible to others (if public), but have not yet been officially Featured
• May appear on the front page in the Today’s Picks bar (formerly Staff Picks)
• Today’s Picks are curated by Sporcle staff but are not considered Featured
  • These quizzes may be Featured later

Featured Quizzes

Featured quizzes have been reviewed by Sporcle staff for accuracy, playability, and overall fun. Key points:

• These receive special placement on Sporcle’s homepage
• Identified with a green check mark on the quiz page
• Include:
  • Quizzes in the Daily Dose series
• Quizzes listed in the Even More Quizzes section (internally known as ‘Non-Featured’, a term used only within admin and tool interfaces)

Retired Quizzes

• A Retired quiz was once Featured but is no longer actively displayed
• For badge progress and Featured quiz totals, Retired quizzes still count as Featured
• The number of Featured quizzes credited to a user does not decrease when quizzes are retired
